DR P3 is one of DR's four national FM channels. Originally P3 short for 'Program 3'. P3 broadcasts began January 1, 1963 and was supposed to be a state-controlled replacement for the closed, popular private Radio Mercur that sent from a ship in the Sound 1958-62. P3 broadcast over DAB, FM and via satellite across Europe. In a short period, P3 also sent over FM in Nuuk / Greenland. P3 was the last of the main programs that began with stereo shipments in 1972.
